Construction of Erieau Fire Station Progressing
In the village of Erieau the construction of a new facility which will house the fire station, community centre and book exchange is coming along according to schedule.
“This facility will assist in having needed resources on hand and provide us with a better opportunity to serve our community, reduce property loss, protect lives and the environment” commented Erieau Station Chief Jim Anderson.
It is hoped that the facility will be completed near the end of June.
Chatham-Kent was successful in gaining funds through an application process to the Community Adjustment Fund. This fund was made available to assist communities across Canada who rely on industrial sectors that have been hit hard by current economic conditions, including forestry, mining, agriculture, fisheries and manufacturing. The Fund will give priority to communities that are severely affected by the global economic downturn such as resource-based communities that depend on a limited industry base.
