Volunteer Firefighter Donates Award Winnings

Firefighter Ryan Coll was recently awarded the “Volunteer Service Award” from the Power Workers Union. He was given the award for his service as a volunteer firefighter at station #3 in Wallaceburg.

Ryan decided to donate his $1000.00 award to be used in finishing the miniature fire hall at the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village. Ryan’s donation will now benefit many students and visitors to the Children’s Safety Village. Some of the funds will help with the addition of fire safety education displays which will provide information on preventing, detecting and escaping from fire.

Ryan presented the cheque to Assistant Chief Ray Stone, who serves on the Children’s Safety Village Board, on Monday at the beginning of programs. Two Wallaceburg schools were present for the presentation and programming that day.
