Enbridge Donation Directed to Fire Safety Education in Chatham-Kent

On Thursday, September 15th Enbridge and First Solar celebrated the completion of an Ontario solar project in Tilbury Ontario. As part of the celebration, Ian MacRobbie from Enbridge presented a cheque to Assistant Chief Ray Stone and Public Educator Barb Dawson for $10,000.

The donation is being used to purchase a house travel trailer that will be slightly modified and used as a fire safety trailer throughout Chatham-Kent. The trailer will facilitate living areas to review and demonstrate household fire hazards; learn about preventing fires, the importance of early detection through smoke alarms, use of sprinklers in residential settings and home escape.

The unit replaces the current “Smokehouse Trailer” which has been in use for the past ten years. This year the current unit will not pass the safety requirements to be in use so the donation comes at an opportune time to continue providing this education with a mobile unit.

“We certainly appreciate the generous donation from Enbridge and are excited at the opportunity to provide this “hands on training” to our citizens,” said Assistant Chief Ray Stone, Fire Prevention and Public Education.
